An Improved Capillary Pressure Model for Fractal Porous Media: Application to Low-Permeability Sandstone

Capillary pressure is a crucial input in reservoir simulation models. Generally, capillary measurements are expensive and time-consuming; therefore, there limitation on the number of cores tested laboratory. Accordingly, numerous models have been suggested to match curves overcome this limitation. This study developed new fractal model by depicting porous system as bundle tortuous triangular tubes. The imitates pores’ angularity, providing more accurate representation pore than smooth circular openings. Moreover, tubes allow wetting phase be retained tube’s corners. A genetic algorithm was employed obtain proposed model’s parameters. data eight low-permeability sandstone samples from Khatatba formation Western Desert Egypt were utilized test model. results revealed that reasonably matched laboratory-measured data.
